Rated 3 out of 5 by from VERY HARD TO START I got this in Oct 2016 because it was on sale and all the good reviews it has. I have been having a very hard time starting this thing. Check you tube to see what I was doing wrong, which was nothing. I was doing everything by the book. Took it back to the store, and they told me that I had bad gas in it. I said, wait a minute. I'm using Stihl MotoMix. He said he changed the plug, cleaned out the lines, should be good to go. Took it home, it started right up. The next day, back to the same problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obscene power, easy to handle Was considering the 181 series, but this one was on sale locally. Considerably more saw for a few more dollars. Have just bought a large property that is completely lined with trees, so am planning for the worst-case scenario: can it be started in an ice storm and cut through oak? This saw seems a good candidate. Starts quickly, takes almost no effort to cut through timber. Is light enough to handle easily, but substantial enough to feel confident in it's construction. Like most have stated, it MUST be started correctly. I don't have much time with it so I can't really speak to its dependability, but have no doubts it will do all I need with plenty to spare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great firewood saw I do like this this saw for cutting up felled trees. The 45cc engine works well with the 18" bar. One pull on full choke, then a few more with choke closed and it will always start. A second pull on full choke and you really push your chances of flooding it. It seems like there is not much oil getting to the chain but in reality it is sufficient. I expect this saw will serve well for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Before you try starting Stihl chain saws have a trick to get them started. It's not like other chain saws, You can't put it on full choke and keep cranking until it almost starts like other products. Pull only one or two times on full choke, then pull on half choke. That's the secret. I don't know why Stihl does't explain this in the manual. If you have already flooded it, remove the spark plug, dry it off, and crank it several times with the spark plug out as per the manual to get the excess fuel out. LET IT SITE FOR 20 MINUTES, Crank it once or twice on full choke. Then crank it several times on half choke. You be cutting wood like a crazy man after that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow the manual I bought the MS250 to do a quick job. The temperature was 21 f, I used my choke, let it burp once and put it to warm, pulled the cord and Bang! No problem starting. I took one pull for the burp and 2 to start from warm. Excellent purchased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I purchased the 250 saw with slight hesitation but after the first pull of the cord, I was hooked. From the start to the finish, I was amazed by the ease of use. The saw cut through Oak like butter which unlike my old saw, made my task much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Chainsaw Absolutely a Dream I've used chainsaws in the past, but this is the first chainsaw I've actually owned. I managed to pick this up during a sale and the deal was just too good to pass up. Originally I thought I would buy the Farm Boss, but this chainsaw is nearly as big and offered quite a bit of savings. Since I'm a homeowner in the city, I won't be using a chainsaw all the time, and this seemed to be the perfect fit. I safely dropped a tree with about a 24 in diameter with this guy. It just works, and it's super easy to start.
